Igawa had a pretty record in Japan, going 63-38 with a 3.30 ERA, with a K rate of 8.6 and BB rate of 2.7. He's a lefty in Yankee Stadium, and the Yankees should score a lot of runs for him, but will he handle Major League batters well this year and win 15 games?

As long as the Yankees give him a very good run support, like they gave RJ last year, he should win at least 10, maybe 15. I hope he is as good as they say he is, because we are going to need him to step up.

Yeah with Wang injured, he'll be pitching regularly through April now. Can you believe Pavano might start opening day? What are the Yankees thinking? I know he's earning a fortune, but an opening day start? He'll never live up to the big money contract they gave him. Maybe he can shock us all and do a good job on opneing day. Maybe he can win 15 games this year. And start earning some of his money.

I don't think that he will because Major League batters have become so talented in the last few years that it's very tough for any new pitcher to enjoy complete success as a starter during his first year. Of course, I hope that he does win them, because I don't wish any professional athlete any harm, but I think it's going to be a tough task even with all the run support behind him. Now, I ask you this: If he doesn't win them and he turns out to be another average pitcher, do you think the Yankees will go after another big pitcher like Johan Santana?

No question, the Yankees will go after Johann Santana. I think he's free after 2008, and the Yankees won't be paying Mussina or Pettitte then and will lots of free payroll to use on him. Let me ask you this? How much will Santana get?

If he can keep his ERA around 4.00 and just throw strikes, as a lefty he should win 15 games. I think, however, that he will do well the first time through the other teams, but, he will have to make some adjustments the second time he faces them so it will be tough. If he is as smart, not just talented, as he seems to be, 15 wins should be realistic with the offense behind him.

Hope Igawa can get it going because I just picked him up in my fantasy baseball league. Pavan is hurt again. He will never earn the money they are paying him in salary. He isn't even dating that model anymore either.
