hi.. I'm planning to buy a PDA and I'm stuck with 2 models, everything's the same except for the ROM. The cheaper one has 128MB ROM while the more expensive one has 1Gig of ROM. Now what's the difference between ROM and RAM? Which one should I choose? Is ROM really that important? What do people need a big ROM for? thanks

Personally, i don't think rom is really important. Try the cheaper one.

As already some guys explain RAM is random access memory use by all programs but ROM read only memory it never changes and have data such as BIOS or other critical data for different hardwares

ROM=Read Only Memory, RAM=Random Acess Memory Which means ROM is a memory that cannot be changed easily, propobly not at all... RAM is a memory that is emptied when powered off. Atleast that is how they work in regular computers...

ROM or Read Only Memory, Computers almost always contain a small amount of read-only memory that holds instructions for startingup the computer. Unlike RAM, ROM cannotbe written to. It is non-volatile which means once you turn off the computer the information is still there. RAM (Random Access Memory)s a temporary (Volatile) storage area utilized by the CPU. Before a program can be ran the program is loaded into the memory which allows the CPU direct access to the program.

ram is known as random access memory(ram) and rom is known as read only memory(rom).difference is that rom are those memories which does not stores data and they are only read type means they can only read data but ram is an essential part of the computer or say motherboard .ram provides you the necessary speed to input or output data.

RAM(Random Access Memory) is a piece of device attached to a motherboard of a computer that runs basic fundtions in order for a computer to operate. Programs are written in RAM while the computer is processing them, ROM (Read Only Memory) is a fixed type of memory which is attached in the motherboard which runs critical computer functions.
