Is someone an Alcoholic if he drinks every day but does not get drunk?

I would really like to hear people's opinion on whether a person who drinks every evening and starts in the morning when they get up on the weekends is an alcoholic or his he not. Why do I bring this discussion to the table? Well this is a big issue between me and my recent ex husband. He feels that drinking a beer on Saturday morning is the same as me getting up and drinking hot tea. What is your opinion?
