Or if you're already in a marriage or a long term, committed relationship, what made you decide that he/she is IT?

relationship coach lays out his 5 golden rules for evaluating the prospects of long-term success. When it comes to making the decision about choosing a life partner, no one wants to make a mistake. Yet, with a divorce rate of close to 50 percent, it appears that many are making serious mistakes in their approach to finding. If you ask most couples who are engaged why they’re getting married, they’ll say: “We’re in love.” I believe this is the #1 mistake people make when they date.Choosing a life partner should never be based on love (alone). Though this may sound not politically correct, there’s a profound truth here. Love (alone) is not the basis for getting married. Rather, love is the result of a good marriage. When the other ingredients are right, then the love will come. Let me say it again: You can’t build a lifetime relationship on love alone

my husband has a lot of good qualities but the one I like most is that whenever we have disagreements & misunderstanding, he is willing to improve, willing to listen, willing to learn and meet at the middle.

One thing that made me decide that my husband is IT is his family. He grew up in a close-knit happy family. I knew he'll do the same to his own family that's why I knew I got a good man.

You are right. How a man (or a woman) treats his parents and his family is a good gauge of how he'll treat you and the children you'll have. Congratulations for finding him :)

Me and my boyfriend have been together for about a year now and that thing I love most about him and the reason I choose him and stay with him is his unique personality. He has a different way of being sweet that even though it is very suble it is my favorate thing about him. He also has a great sense of humor. To me he is a perfect man.
