Are you running out of gas?

Here in Ontario, Canada, gas stations are closing because they have no gas to serve. I really am not sure as to why this has happened. There was a rail strike which is ending but also an oil refinery fire which seems to be the biggest reason for this. There is only one refinery? I am glad I have nowhere I have to go that I would need to fill up my vehicle. We're just staying in town for now. Is anyone else having this problem, or ever had it happen in their country?

That really sucks! The local station (America) near my house shut down, because the owner didn't pay his bills. How stupid is that? It's been there for years, but I guess he just skipped town. Here I am complaining about having to drive an extra few miles lol and you don't have any gas to begin with!

I don't understand what's going on with that either!!! I don't drive, but I do take the busses and I take taxis. With all the oil and stuff in Canada, how can we be running out of gasoline?

I don't think I've heard about any petrol stations running out of petrol .. but I do know the prices here shot up 2 pence per litre in the last week .. which may have been due to some contaminants getting into one or two petrol stations a couple of weeks ago .. Don't see why I should have to pay more for my petrol though .. I don't even live in the area that had the problem .. petrol is now £0.92 pence per litre which works out to be something like $8 per US gallon .. !!

Here in the US as far as I'm aware we aren't running out of gas, unless someone asks the politicians, LOL. I don't think we have had any problems since the 70's when you could only get so many gallons and you had to wait in line for hours. I was just a kid and remember sitting in the car all day driving around just so that we had a full tank of gas. What a pain. The only problem with gas here is the price. I just paid $2.65 a gallon here. I have seen it for as high as $2.95 for a gallon of regular unleaded. Our gas prices are back on the rise and will be back over $3.00 by the end of March if not sooner. :( I hope that the problem gets straightened out soon there in Canada. :)

Well I only have half a tank of gas at the moment so think I'm gonna top it up tomorrow, just in case things get worse. Thankfully I don't have to go out of town very much, but I do a lot of intown driving. This whole thing doesn't make sense to me when we get our oil from other places, but I can't really say I know enough about it.

Yes I know what you mean. The one up the street from us closed for about 5 days but I see it is open again. Now prices have gone up some. We are paying 104.5 for gas right now. Now I have heard that Toronto is worse. I wanted to go to Toronto one day next week when the kids are on march break. Guess I'll have to wait and see what's happening then and if there is anything new reported.

My husband filled our car up tonight and it cost 50 dollars. We drive a caliber. The cost of gas today is 104.9 dollars a litre. That is highway robbery. I hope they straighten this out soon because we go through a tank of gas a week. My husband has to drive a fair distance to the car pool area, so we still use gas.

No haaven't had this problem much in U.K for some time, but two weeks ago, some supermarkets sold faulty petrol causing several thousand cars to break down, they've now put the price up because of this. I though Prudhope Bay was in Canada (or is it Alaska) where a lot of oil comes from?
