teleportation is it posible?

A while ago i was reading up about this about the theory of teleportation using a device similar to that depicted in the film the fly, scientists have speculated about the posibility of teleportation but do you think it might ever actually be possible? do you think it would have a good or bad effect on the world? of course who ever invents it will become the world richest person but what other effects do you think it might have on the world?
