I was just listening to the song, "Lemon Tree" by Fool's Garden. This is one of my all-time favorites. For those who have heard the song, here are a few lines to jot your memory... I'm sitting here in the boring room It's just another rainy Sunday afternoon I'm wasting my time I got nothing to do I'm hanging around I'm waiting for you But nothing ever happens and I wonder I found the full lyrics at http://www.lyrics007.com/Fool's%20Garden%20Lyrics/Lemon%20Tree%20Lyrics.html . Have you guys come across times when you feel exactly as the lyrics describe? Exactly like the mood the song portrays? I have. Sometimes it's a bad bad feeling. Other times it is perversely good especially when you start moping and enjoying cynically your wretched state of affairs. Do share you thoughts about such times you have faced. Any reasons? Any triggers? How often are they repeated? Any solutions? How did things turn out?

A while ago someone else mentioned Lemon Tree as a song and it kept reminding me of the Peter Paul and Mary song. So I've just listened to it on Imeem.com. They were renouned for folk songs back in the good old 60's and had great harmonies, as did most folk singers back in those days. So I then got sidetracked and found some other oldies to listen to before I got back to you.

And I just listened to the Fool's Garden Lemon Tree - I liked it. How true that it's much easier to wait for things to happen, and disappointed when it doesn't! I must learn to Seize the Day!!!

I think I agree. I was in primary school when the first one was made. Of course they are totally different songs. But it was good to reminisce. I managed to dig out a few more oldies I hadn't hear for a looooong time!

..and here's a song of the same title, sung by Folk.Country icon "Peter Paul and Mary", way back 1962. LEMON TREE When I was just a lad of ten, my father said to me, "Come here and take a lesson from the lovely lemon tree." "Don't put your faith in love, my boy", my father said to me, "I fear you'll find that love is like the lovely lemon tree." Lemon tree very pretty and the lemon flower is sweet but the fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat. Lemon tree very pretty and the lemon flower is sweet but the fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat. One day beneath the lemon tree, my love and I did lie A girl so sweet that when she smiled the stars rose in the sky. We passed that summer lost in love beneath the lemon tree the music of her laughter hid my father's words from me: Lemon tree very pretty and the lemon flower is sweet but the fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat. Lemon tree very pretty and the lemon flower is sweet but the fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat. One day she left without a word. She took away the sun. And in the dark she left behind, I knew what she had done. She'd left me for another, it's a common tale but true. A sadder man but wiser now I sing these words to you: Lemon tree very pretty and the lemon flower is sweet but the fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat. Lemon tree very pretty and the lemon flower is sweet but the fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat.

Perhaps we two are a kind except I cannot appreciate there is any good feeling in the song. I tend to avoid the song simply because it adds more sadness to the already sad state. Other than that, I do nothing about it. Perhaps I believe in problems go away once I sweep it under the carpet ;P

I do find that I sometimes sit and wonder about how I should be doing something more motivated, but just lack the energy. Then I think how sad that is, then I start to get depressed. But then I look around at my husband & kids and remember just how good I really have it.

Hi! How can I say this without really sounding sick for music? Hmmm....I like that song. It's my doing something song. The beat always make me want to clean something. Ok crazy, I'm that too. I always come across times when lyrics/songs match whatever I'm feeling. Sometimes accidentally, I hear a song and I go "Oh yeah I know how that feels. I'm feeling it now." Most times I intentionally look for a song to match my feelings. The song takes away with it bad feelings and multilplies the good ones. There was this one time I was so angry with someone. I locked my room and played the loudest rock song I could get my hands on. I vented all my anger in that one song for an hour. After that I could talk quite civilly without any hint of anger to resolve the issue with the person concerned. Nice post. Have a great day.

I have never heard this song. Thanks for sharing the lyrics, It is one I will look up to listen to down the road, take care. Yes, I have come acrossed the feeling many times... Yes, I share my thoughts in poetry, story, and venting to my friends... often... And try to problem solve with them, to help find better solution or a better manner of coping. Thanks, - DNatureofDTrain

It's a very nice song. Just go to e.g. www.youtube.com and type in Lemon tree. The one sang by Fool's Garden is a nice version. ;-)

Virtual carrot for you - This is my reward for you, wizard. Hope you like it.
Yeah...today is the day when I'm feeling like what that song mean. I know that song very well too. In fact, I'm always listening to it. The only solution I can think of right now is that you should give me a UNIQUE VIRTUAL MEDAL. But as a friend, I do know how to show my appreciation. I'm giving you a stick of carrot as my reward to you. Happy munching, wizzzy.

Hmm I have never heard this song before or that artist but it sounds like nice song. I have had times in my life when I feel just as the lyrics describe. In fact I have been feeling like this almost all week and most of the last 2 months. It has been raining almost everyday and I don't have much to do at home but hang around and think about the one I like. It is actually raining as I write this very strongly too ... Thank you for this song I will look it up and may upload it :-) Rated +.
