Is Faith still the First Lady of Country Music?

Carrie Underwood seems to be everywhere these days, pumping out hit after hit and just taking the country music scene by storm. Has she taken the top spot from Faith? Remember the scene at the music awards show where Faith seemingly couldn't believe she had lost to Carrie for best female vocalist--was the torch passed at that point? Has Carrie toppled Faith?

I never really considered Faith as the top. Yes, she makes good music, but I never put her there. I don't know who I would say is the top. Martina is a good candidate. Maybe I'm old fashioned but I think Reba keeps that title. I think Carrie has a great career ahead of her if she doesn't do anything stupid. She's even surpassed Gretchen Wilson, who i think was going to go really far.

Gretchen Wilson is great for country music, and a definite star in the making. Another in this category would seem to be Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland!

I don't think so, at least not yet. I think Carrie had a great year and made a huge impact on country music. If she continues this path, yes she make take that title. I don't consider Faith as being the Queen. Martina McBride is still way up there too.

Good point about Martina--she was actually the reigning female vocalist until Carrie won this year.I'm looking forward to Reba returning full time to country music now that her TV show is ending--.
