Saving gas/petrol

Recently I came across a news about a couple who traveled around the world in 78 days by car. (But of course they were lifted when they get to cross a body of water.) Their trip was sponsored by Shell and apparently they were promoting "how to save gas or petrol" Unfortunately, they didn't elaborate on it. Could you please give me some tips?

You don't want to give me tips on saving gas? That's not like you, Crosa. Come on, I know you have some awesome techniques. Please share them :-D
