Are people afraid to disagree on mylot?

It seems to me that if you post a "touchy" subject on here, that you may not get alot of responses to it. Do you think that people are just here to make friends. I have no problem making friends, but I like to tackle harder issues w/ 2 sides. I like to hear from colorful people with heartfelt feelings and not just people pleasers. Do you find that people dont participate in "touchy" subjects???

I have no problem typing exactly what I think. That's why people have a discussion in the 1st place..to find out different opinions. I usually don't care what other people think as long as I believe what I say then I don't see a problem with it. I try to put it in a way that will not offend but still get my point across, but sometimes it does offend even if I put it nice.

I think the reasons for people who don't participate are already written. So I won't rewrite it again. I don't speak for others, just for myself. The chances of me participating in a "touchy" subject it 99 to 1 percent ratio. 99% of the time I don't participate. Topics I considered "touchy" are religious, politics and someone's sad story. If you have a "touchy" subject which I have a different stance in, I think it would be safe for me to answer yours? :)

Sadly nascar, what you are seeing is a fear of flaming. It seems on mylot that if one posts an opinion that differs from that of others, then people hit the 'negative' button. This causes one's star rating to decrease and perhaps their earning potential. (no one actually knows the mylot formula, but it is presumed) so, people avoid this by not responding or responding without taking a stance! Yes, this is exactly opposite of what should happen, but alas, human nature has taken over! The site, as I see it, was meant to be a place to 'discuss' issues, which means to expose all facets of a topic but that isn't happening. So very sad.

I also want to tackle touchy subjects and have a friendly debate with other mylot members. But it seems that if you answer opposite to what others members want you are given a negative rating. So probably that is the reason why most mylot members decline answering "touchy" issues here. But wouldn't it be more exciting if we could have a friendly debate here sometimes? Just to hear each other's honest opinions on certains issues.

I haven't posted anything touchy or controversial yet but I've noticed a few subjects that are and they seem to get responses. I'd have thought everyones main reason for being here is the money which sometimes detracts from quality discussions. You get a lot of people starting discussions that they haven't thought about just because they think they'll make money which is annoying.
