play station 2 or play station portable??

hello everyone, hereto ask you asuggestion!
i am goiing to buy a play station,now here in italy the ps3 is going to be sold and the ps2 costs less, so i was thinking about buying one.
the matter is that: i would like to buy it in orderto play with my boyfriend, we do not still live together so when we meet in the week end i would like to bring it with me and play at my boy's home. Do you think choosing psp is better? i would think so but games aremore expensive and i think it is most fragile, what do you suggest me to do?
what would you do? any suggestion? tahnks in advance!

I would get a ps2 because the ps3 are basically ps2 with slightly better graphics and wireless controllers. Psp are good but they have a very short battery life so i would get a ps2 as a safer option

The playstation2 is smalle and easy enough to travel with since you are going to his home I would suggest that one, the games are going to be easier to find, and there are still or so I am told bugs in the psp, but even without that, the two of you would be playing it together, so it would be better to hook it up to a larger screen where you both could have a better view of what is happening in the game.
