This year we will be doing more renovations on the house but I'd also like to get started on some of the landscaping as well and definately get some of the gardens put in....The main problem I'm having though is trying to figure out what to put where etc etc...Our lawn area is a pretty large size which is great cause i have plenty of room to work with but it makes it difficult to figure things out as well because there is so much room to work with LOL...... How did you figure out or what method did you use to plan your landscaping and gardening projects?...particularly ppl with large areas to work with...

I had that problem once and I started by going to the Library and reading everything I could about landscaping. Magazines and books that are geared towards the do it yourself. My garden turned out very beautiful.

I actually have gotten some fabulous ideas from my Better Homes & Gardens magazines and their website actually...Tonight when I'm out doing the shopping I'll look for some other mags to check out and I'll have to hit the library at some point too I think..problem with that is our library is rather small and depressing with limited books LOL thanks both of you for your suggestions :-D

Hi Raven, I love gardening, I am use to working with a little yard. You sound like you have a big yard. first I visualize what I want go to the garden store and pick different color flowers, get some mulch. don't try to do it all in one day. I like to work on it for about a week. get you some gardening books to give you some ideas, I go around and look at other peoples yard to get ideas. I really like work in my yard in the summer. I always keep a pretty yard. be sure to put you some ferterlizer down in the spring, I am sure you know that. I always save my seeds from last year. nd put them in a brown paper bag that way I don't have to buy alot of flowers, then I like to get the flowers that come back every year. when are you going to start working on your yard, I wait to about the end of May. to start working in my yard. I have a whole lot of seeds if you want some I will send you some. let me know if you want some.

Thanks so much for your post marciascott...Yea my yard is actually quite large so this will definately take more than just this yr (especially considering we are doing renovations on the house this summer as well) and another problem I think I might have is that our land USE TO be under water LOL way back when this used to be part of Lake Ontario so the ground is actually more sand than soil...not that we cant buy soil of course but it could get rather costly.... I'm going away the last week of April and with the weather beign so strange the past couple yrs I figure the end of May possibly the begining of June I'll get it started but I'm thinkin about starting to buy some of the supplies now bit by bit so we wont be forking out one lump sum all at once... thanks again and best response to you :-D
