Anyone else had the chance to ride in a hot air balloon? Tell me about it.

I got to take a ride for free! The company, Fotomat, that I worked for at the time was a sponsor. One of the girls who was supposed to ride in the balloon never showed up, so, I got to go! It was really fun riding in the balloon. I took tons of pictures. It was really cool to see how they blow up the balloons as well. There were all different kinds of balloons, including a giant Champagne bottle! I hear it is pretty expensive if you have to pay for the ride. If you have the chance to go to a balloon festival, I highly recommend it. It's great fun for the whole family, even if you don't take a ride. There's usually plenty of great food vendors there. If you go early enough you can see the dawn patrol. While it's still dark, the balloons go up and light up in the darkness.

I have never done this but I would love to try some day. I think it would be so awesome. I remember when I was little one had to emergency land in our field and I got to see them disassemble it.

I have never gone in a hot air balloon. I do go to the Balloon Festival we have here every year in September. We have a great time.

I would definitely like to try it, although i doubt if I shall ever have much opportunity to do so. My only experience with hot air balloons consists of seeing them on television, which is obviously far different from seeing one close up.

Oooh, you are lucky to have had a ride, I've not been in one yet, but would certainly have jumped at the opportunity as you did. I sometimes see the ballons rising above the city first thing in the morning when the air is still, sometimes there are lots of them, between 5 and 10. What a blast it must have been, how gentle was you're landing? That bit always worried me a bit about balloons.

The landing was pretty smooth. They won't allow you to go if it's too windy, which could make it hard to land.

I have never been on a hot air balloon before but I have always wanted to. This sounds like so much fun and I hope I get the chance to experience this someday. I have never been to a balloon festival before either and it sounds like a lot of fun too. Thanks for telling us about your experience! :)
