I make soap and candle tarts for my family and friends.I try to do this in bulk so I don't have to sit on the stove every day.But it seems that the scent wears off after a week or two. Anyone have any answers as to what I am doing wrong? Or maybe an idea how to keep it fresh.Maybe if someone can give me an idea as to where I can buy stronger uncut essential oils.

I started with candles a month ago but I need to get ore wicks and wax dor my next bunch. I have started experiementing with handmade toiletries and doing myown mineral make up too. I find it very satisfying and I am sick of paying out money for packaging and extra, non-useful ingredients. I would like to get into a little soap making but it is way down on the list for me, right now. Essential oils will break down after they have been exposed to light and heat. I don't know how you are storing your items but you might try storing them in the dark. For everyday soaps I would use a fragance oil and save the use of essential oils for liquid soaps, but ifyou are already doing liquid soap I am at a loss. There are a few soap bustres' groups on yahoo. You might try looking at those if you haven't already.

My daughter used to make candles and my best friend just got me some homemade candles for christmas . The scent used to wear off my daughters candles also but I noticed the one's that I got for Christmas from my friend still have the scent nice and strong . She wrapped them up in pretty paper and it seemed to hold the scent in and this way the scent is there until I go to use it anyway . Hope this gives you some idea's . Best of luck !!

This is one of the luffa sponge soaps I make. - I make these luffa sponge soaps this one is cucumber melon scent and they are so wonderful to use because they help to exfoliate the dead skin.
I make homemade soap. I buy the glycerin blocks at hobby lobby and then I add coloring and fragrance. When I make mine I either wrap each bar in plastic wrap or if it is the same scent I place all the bars in Ziploc bag. I have never had the problem of them loosing their scent when I have done this. However if I leave them out and not being used then they seem to. I also don't have any problem with them loosing their scent when they are used everyday because I think it is constantly renewing the layer of the soap. I hope that this helps.

I forgot to tell you that I melt my soap first then I add the color and then the fragrance just before I pour it into the mold. I think this also helps to keep the fragrance from breaking down.

I make glycerin soaps also.I wrap them up too. This does seem to work.I use saran wrap and put pretty ribbons on them.Try out this, after you put your scent in poor your soap into the mold.Put three drops of food coloring in different areas, then gently swirl. My customers seem to like the designs.

I store mine in a cool dark place and they seem to hold ht escent, but when i set them out the scent evaporates after a few weeks, but this is normal really, if not you would never have to buy another one or make them.
