People Who Use Others

Why does it seem nowadays that it's becomming the "new" norm for people to use others for social gain, status or just for selfish means? Why do so many people want to take rather than give and when you have nothing to offer they leave you quick, fast, and in a hurry without hesitation?

There have always been people who used others, from ancient times to modern day. The only difference is that now it's becoming more socially acceptable to admit that you do so. There are always people who will do anything to succeed, who see relationships as a means to an end, and who choose to value possesions, fame, or success over other human beings. It's sad, it's pathetic, but it certainly isn't new.

Oh I most certainly know that this is not new. There is nothing new under the sun. It just seems to be more common nowadays than let say 10 years ago.

It does seem to be to be more common for people to be open about the fact that they are using others. In the old days people would at least have the decency to be ashamed of it. Now you can flip on any reality tv show and see people eating each other alive just to get ahead. How sad. I wonder what has made it more acceptable in our society, and what we can do to change that. Personally I'd rather have friends that care about me than any kind of success you could think of. I can't imagine stepping on others just to get ahead.

It called greed, lack of respect, lack of morals, and selfishness! We're in the end times.

because our society today has become less about the village and more about the individual. It has become easier for a person to think only for themselves because there is no village unity needed for survival anymore

Because the world we live in lets it happen. If you have something or not, but the person feels that they can gain something off of you, then they will latch on to you and suck you dry.
