It was observed that the immediate superiors or bosses/managers tend to be always suspecious about everything including the most trustworthy people in the organisation and they are sometimes suspecious about themselves. Is this a common pehenomenon as observed by you in your life? if yes what might be the reason for this kind of paranoia?

Most of the businesses with paranoid owners that I knew of have already closed down. There is a difference in the owner of the business being paranoid and the immediate bosses/managers being paranoid. Immediate bosses may be scared of more efficient people being a challenge to their post.

Thank you for your practical response, Being paranoid is considered to be one of the qualities of top level manager/executives. Former CEO and founder member of Intel corporation, Mr. Andrew S Grove, in his book "Only the Paranoid Survive (1996)", he has explained in detail about How important it is being paranoid for a senior executive in big organisations. However as you rightly pointed out that, bosses being paranoid in small organisations will be fatal to the organisation. Regards.

I guess so. My boss always thinks we do other jobs in the office, and that we are not really working for him. He doesn't trust us. He is so pathetic. Maybe the reason is that he is doing that to other people too.

Yes, this is true. Bosses are always on the lookout for their employees. This is more evident in big companies. It seems that the bosses tend to let their nose in, not only on job related matters but even in our personal lives. This is so because, the bosses want to make sure that the employees are performing the tasks they are given from time to time. Then, they look at each finished job. Then, they observe as to how each employee treats another including, the attitudes each employee has towards work. If they find that there is one employee who is a prospect for a higher position, you can bet that the boss will be more observant of the doings of this employee. Here comes now your tip, if you observe that the higher ups in the organization are interested in how you carry your job, there is something in the offing. A good news for you. It will be wise to pursue a course which leads to a masteral or doctoral degree or law, maybe, which will even more qualify you for the higher position.

I have had bosses that were suspicious of everything and acted paranoid. I think it is lack of self esteem and that they are unable to do the work as a supervisor and they know it. They have to blame other people for their lack of ability to manage employees fairly and competently.

Thank you Real Gem, I think the idea of following the dreams and making it a reality is only possible when you do your own business. That own business should have lower startup cost and widely accepted in the market. Any good network marketing business opportunities like www.sevenrigns.com or Amway or www.RMPinfotec.biz would help us in becomming rich quite quickly with little effort.
