I have nothing against atheists but will also not hesitate to state that i Believe in God.People belong to different religions for reasons best known to them(islam, christianity, buddism, etc) and they all have different books they follow in line with their faith. If you are an atheist or if you know someone who is,what exactly prompted you to become an atheist? Christians believe in an almighty God who created the heavens and the Earth with everything in it,what do atheists believe?

Many things made me an atheist. Contradictions in religious concepts, critical thinking, many things, a big list, if you want I can list it here, but I warn you, it is big. If you are asking if I have , and I can only answer for me, not for all atheists, I have no absolute truths, I have positions that are open to change with new evidence. Of the few "beliefs" I have, one is that I believe in the ethic of reciprocity for example, that is a good way for a society to develop and grow, without the need of any god concept. I like it for numerous reasons, that , if you want, I would be glad to explain. Have a nice day.

Neither do I, but I think atheist are as such due to their understanding of religious doctrine. Most of them contend that religious doctrines and teaching are self-contradictory, which is their reason for not believing in God or a Supreme Being in charge of all things. For instance, earth quakes, natural calamities, all motivate atheist to have a case against the practice of religion and belief in an almighty Supreme Being.

I am a Christian. I do have friends who are agnostic and atheist. I have respect for all people and their right to believe what they wish. I think it is wrong to try to push people into believing something - this is truly a matter of choice.
