Spam in mailbox

Recently i have started receiving a lot of spam in my gmail inbox. I haven't signed up with any online services aprt from mylot but the spam keeps pouring in. There is no use even attempting to block these spammers as they send about 20 new mails from different addresses each day. I am wondering whether i should create another gmail account and think that the spam is probably because i signeed up with mylot. Has any such thing happened to you after signing up with mylot?

There has been no increase in the amount of Spam I have received since joining MyLot. I receive a lot of Spam, but it has come from other sources, and as yet I've traced none back to MyLot.
