How many of us are struggling with the dry indoor air this winter?

Keeping our skin soft and smooth in winter can be a real challenge when the air is cold and the heat in our homes makes the air even drier than usual. But this amazingly simple formula from Care2’s Annie Bond is a fabulous emollient, hydrator, and healer for the skin. Annie’s family and friends praise it highly, and she says that daily use for four months made her age spots disappear.
It’s also wonderfully simple to make, with only two ingredients. Here is this terrific formula:
INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup aloe vera gel
1/8 cup vegetable glycerin
Combine the ingredients, stirring well to combine, and store in a glass jar with a screw top. (The formula will keep for about 4 months.)
To use, apply a dab to clean, damp skin and gently massage it in.
Makes about 5/8 cup.

Thanks for the formula. We've been using cetafil cream in our family. It was recommended by a dermatologist. The problem with it is it's superexpensive (like 10 or 12 dollars for a bottle of it). Thankfully, it does go a long way. I think we've had our bottle now for a few months. But I may try your formula. It sounds like it has all the right ingredients to keep the skin moisturized. And it's probably pretty inexpensive as well. There all these "lubricants" on the market these days for dry skin, and most of them don't really do anything. It's like you're spending your money down the drain. Anyway, thanks for the formula.

That is a good recipe, but dryness is the LAST thing I have to worry about!!! I live in a basement apartment, and even in the wintertime I empty my dehumidifer atleast once a day. You would not believe how humid it is in here!!
Of course I had to get used to an entirely new climate when I was in Arizona a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks for the recipe! I'm having a lot of itching dry skin, but my worst problem is my nose. It dries out a lot and I've had more nosebleeds this year than I have ever. It's just so dry. When I remember to do it, I put a pot of water on the stove and let it simmer to add some wather in the air...poor man's humidifier! LOL

Moisturisers should be used every morning and every night for maximum results. During the day, make sure you use a moisturiser that contains an SPF of at least 15.

Thanks for this great tip. My skin is extremely dry and in winter it´s even worse.
On top of it´s also sensitive therefore the aloe vera will be an excellent remedy.
I don´t buy creams and lotions with aloe vera because there are so expensive. Your beauty recipe might even help the brown spots on my face (due to a hormanal disorder)diminish, so I´ll definately give your tip a try.
Thanks for sharing.

I will have my daughter try this. My grandaughter is 2 and has extremely dry and rough skin, mostly on back and tummy. What cream she gets with the prescription does not get rid of it at all.

I might have to try this as my hands stay dry due to working with cardboard a lot at work. I am not sure where to get the vegtable glycerin. I will look online.
It sounds like you make a lot of your own stuff. That is cool. Keeping chemicals out of our homes is a safe thing to do.

I have always used a face cream day & night. Mainly I use Avon.
I would like my age spots to reduce, so I will try this home made recipe. Thank You.
