This is an elegant naturally-protective and humectant formula. It is deliciously creamy and easy to apply, with a delightful vanilla scent. Best of all, it will keep your lips beautifully moist all winter long. Here is the formula: INGREDIENTS 1 ounce apricot kernel oil or almond oil 1 ounce coconut oil 1/4 ounce beeswax 1 teaspoon honey Vanilla natural flavoring oil, to taste 1. In a double boiler over medium heat, combine the oils and beeswax and heat until the beeswax has completely melted. 2. Remove the mixture from the stove and stir in the honey. Blend with a handheld mixer or whisk until the mixture is creamy. 3. Add a few drops of vanilla flavoring oil and stir to mix thoroughly. 4. Pour into small jars with screw tops and allow to cool. The mixture will keep for 6 months. Apply to lips often as desired. Makes about 1/4 cup of balm.

What a wonderful idea. My kids would think it was great fun to make their own lip balm. I am a carmex kind of girl and have a tube of this stuff in every room of my house and every coat pocket. This time of year you have to keep your lips coated or they dry out quickly.

I certainly take care of my lips. I am so prone to chapped lips, and now I live in a dry climate at altitude. I use different lip balms and lip treatments. The lip balms I use all have SPF protection in them, because burned lips are the worst (ask any lifeguard!) I ight use this mixture at night before I go to sleep, but I always use SPF during the day.

oooh, thanks for this recipe. I was wondering, do you have a natural lip sloughing recipe???

Ok, try this one....Put a scoop of Vaseline in the lid of the pot. Mix in half a teaspoon of salt and half a teaspoon of cinnamon powder. Blend well and apply to your lips with your fingertip, rubbing your lips and sloughing off any chapped skin with the rough, salty mixture. Keep scrubbing until your lips are smooth and tingly from the cinnamon. Thanks for responding to this discussion. Leave on for 5 minutes to let the cinnamon work its lip-plumping magic then wipe off.

This sounds like a great moisturizer. If you added 1 drop of therapuetic grade essential oil of Rosemary, it would last even longer. Rosemary is a natural preservative.

Thanks for the wonderful recipe. I have alot of trouble with my lips. I can not wear many brands of lipsticks. As soon as I put them on my lips, they are immediately dried out. The avon dealer tried to sell me lipstick, I told her what it did to my lips. she did not believe me. I put it on and made abeliever out of her. I will try your recipe. The only kind of lipstick i can use is estee lauder. weird.
