My closet is virtually empty too. I need to lose weight and don't want to shop much until I do. Right now I'm stuck with jeans, tshirts, sweat shirts and a sweater or two. :(
If I had the money to get a new wardrobe, I'd go for the basics. Good undies that fit properly is the first thing. :) A couple of pairs of jeans, black slacks, tan slacks and maybe navy slacks. A variety of blouses in different colors that will go with all the pants. Maybe 5-6 blouses, and 4-5 sweaters for cooler weather. If you need to dress up, a black skirt is pretty basic. Add a couple of flashy tops for going out / dressing up. Shoes-a neutral pair of flats for the pants, black heels for dressing up, and a pair of sneakers. If it's chilly, a decent coat that is suitable for any outfit.
This makes me want to go shopping! Anyone got any extra money for me?

What pieces should i invest in? i usually buy impulsively and end up discarding. i want to invest in pieces that will last for years. are there any stores that sell quality clothing but for an ok price?

buying from thrift stores is a good way to get the most for the buck. buy everything exept underwear from them.

i love going to thrift stores but its sooooo hard to find my size and kids clothing is out of the question because it never really end up fitting correctly. i do love shopping for accessories and bags there! its like a treasure hunt! i found a pair of really cute designer slingbacks last week for my basic wardrobe.
