So far, my favorite one that I've taught my dog Macy is "Dance". I hold out my hands, standing up, and tell her to dance, and she jumps up on her hind legs and puts her paws in my hands and we dance around the room! She also knows "high-five", another fun one to show people. Unfortunatly, she still hasn't learned anything very useful, like "Take out the trash". :)

The best trick to teach any dog is recall. It could save their life. Plus it is a skill of basic obedience.

our dogs are not terribly talented, but the little one will respond if you tell her "show me Elvis" by curling her upper lip, on the left side. It is funny. She will also "smile" on command. During her bath I do not want her to shake so as she starts I say, nah! and she won't do it until I give her permission. after she is dried off, and I see that urge swelling to shake, I will rotate my hand back and forth and then she knows it is okay to shake off.
