I must be missing something here. I can put up a discussion here and get maybe 5 responses. Then later, someone else will put up the same discussion and get almost 40 responses. What am I doing wrong?

I don't know either... Maybe they see the most recent discussions first? Maybe the people who respond have similar interests to the topic starter, or they "know" the person from other discussions. But so far I'm just enjoying reading the topics and responding. I'm not trying to make it a competition.

The second discussion should not be happening. If it is copying then that is frowned on. Also it depends on your circle of friends. You are new so you need to become know and then others also will look for your discussions if they find that they can respond to them. Obviously you are not doing anything wrong if there are 40 responses to that particular discussion. Just need to become known more and make some quality friends that support your discussions. Good luck with this one.
