Salmonella in the peanut butter

Were you aware that the FDA announced not that long ago that certain brands of peanut butter were contaminated with Salmonella? If not you can read about it from the FDA's site (http://www.fda.gov/bbs/topics/NEWS/2007/NEW01563.html) Affected brands are Peter Pan and Great Value which have the serial number beginning with "2111" stamped on the lids. Now here's an interesting thought. Despite the FDA warning the local Wal-Marts in my area have not pulled the affected peanut butter off the shelves. Why is that do you think? Should they be held accountable and responsible for the welfare of their customers?

We had affected jars of both peter pan and walmart. All our grocery stores have pulled all effected products from their shelves immediately, so that is good...however, my daughters were both terrible sick from the peter pan p-butter before we learned of the recall. they had also gone through half a jar of the walmart brand before the recall was announced. They did not get sick from the Great Value (walmart) brand however.

That's good that your local stores were being responsible and doing their job. Alas, not all stores eem capable of following protocol. The two Wal-Marts in my nearbye town both had the affected jars still out on the shelf. That's just ridiculous.
