How do you keep cloth dolls clean?

I haven't come up with a sure-fire way of keeping my cloth dolls clean yet. The glass or acrylic cases are quite expensive and I don't care for the see-through plastic 'tents'. Other than having a large cabinet to keep them in, I don't know what to do with them but keep them stashed away in a spare room with the door closed. I would rather have them where I can see them from time to time.
