Favourite type of writing?

Personally for me, I enjoy waiting poetry and song lyrics. I do like story writing, although I'm not good at keeping the story alive, as they often fizzle and die. There's quite a few other's which I also enjoy but those at the top are my favourites. What is your favourite type of writing? Thanks, ~Joey Is it, Prose's, Stories (long or short) Poetry, Song writing, Scripts etc

I'm more into writing short stories/fiction. A professor once told our class that if you're a born story-teller, then narratives and stories are just the thing for you. Guess I'm a born story-teller. :p But I love reading poetry and song lyrics as much as I love writing short stories. I'm a big fan of Literature. :)

My favorite is sci-fi/fantasy - I am working on a book and and have about 100+ pages typewritten so far - sci-fi/fantasy, horror and thrillers are my favorite types of books to read too -- Odd, but I also write children's book -- odd combination, but .... lol The children's books I am working on are written from a child's point of view and how a child feels and see's things -- I am a therapist and worked for many years with infants and toddlers, so got a good perspective on how they see the world. One day, I hope to be published! :o)

I just wanted to let you know after reading your topic for discussion that I think that you must be very talented for knowing you have the ability to write songs. I would love to be able to do that. I've tried and it just takes way too long for me to come up with new ideas. I have written short stories about factual events and I've been told that I would be a good writer but enough about me. I just wanted to wish you good luck in your future.

I think for me that i would have to say that i love writing as a whole. I love the way poetry can make the words echo through your head and the way a song can leave you deep in thought and drawn into memory! I also love a well written short story or even a novel as long as it is well written and holds my attention!!

I love to write. I am a novelist working to get my first novel, I'll Fly Away, published. I enjoy writing short fiction too. I do write a bit of poetry, but call myself Poetically Incorrect because it is not a strength of mine. I have an online writing resume if you want to check it out - www.monicakennedy.gather.com. I look forward to getting to know you!

I love poetry, for me poetry helps me to get my feelings out on paper, I can't cry and find it very very difficult to let the dams break, so I write it all down. I also keep a daily journal to record my moods and events of the day, it does help me a great deal, I can look back and remind myself of the good times and it's therapy for me. I have a book of poetry which I started in 2003 the height of my depression. Even as a child it was always commented that I was always writing! I used to write stories too, like creating my own soap. I guess I am very creative, imaginative, talents that have done me well and helped with life.

i like writing poetry and songs. i think this is the most expressive way of writing... plus i cant spend too much time on one topic (like a stroy) as i get very bored very quickly with what i am writing haha.

poetry - Favourite type of writing..poetry
I enjoy writting poetry, in my mother tounge. I'm not a fluent, quality writer, but I enjoy to express my feeling in words. Though those have so many lines which looks like repetition of another poets poetry....lol. I've tried to write an story, but was true repition of a movie, so left that...lol Still I enjoy writing, n I will keep it up. Thanks.

I write Short Stories. I have a blog just for the ones I've written. I haven't written any in ages though - it seems every time I sit down to write, my mind goes blank. It's a severe case of Writers block lol. Really I should force myself to write more. As my mind opens up to my creative side, it'll get easier and easier to write again. Right now, I just don't have the energy. I'm hoping that by being here on MyLot my creative juices will come flowing back to me so I can start creating again. I love to see the characters come alive under my fingers. It's like teaching them ballet - all down to where I make them come alive.

Hi Joey, Hmmm . . . that's not an easy question to answer. I like verse as well as prose, but also enjoy writing stories. I guess if I had to sum it up I would say that I enjoy most the kind of writing that draws on my creative energy. I do professional writing: aricles, fillers, etc. but this kind of writing isn't exactly insiring. While I learn much from the research I have to do,I don't feel excited. Too mechanical for my taste, I guess. Children's stories can be fun to compose, as well. I'm currently working on a suspense novel and that is stimulating.

I love writing! I mostly like writing poetry, but I've recently dabbled in song lyrics. I haven't written in awhile...maybe I should write some new poems :)

I really enjoy writing stories and poetry. I have a novel in the works and run an online creative writing community. I do have a couple short stories, but haven't really continued lately. I have also gotten into the blog thing, which is fun, although I get some "interesting" people responding, but still fun. My favorite subject is science fiction...I'm a sucker for a good futuristic thriller.

i do a lot of poetry writing, and a some short story-writing. i tried to venture in writing novels, but got limited imagination, haha, so i decided writing novels isn't really my forte. i have also written 3 songs, but they need a lot of polishing and a really great arrangement.

I enjoy writing Script type stories actually. I think it's because when I write I am more focused on what people say to each other than the exact description of the scene. I can picture the "movie" in my head and it's lots of fun that way! Of course, I only write for me, but I still put a lot of work into my scripts sometimes so maybe in 20 years it will be a movie :-D

Satire in free form contexts. I've written things about how not to be omniscient, how to seduce a fjord, how to kill direct marketing-things with amplified Chaucer... naturally, the use of language has to develop. I must say, though, that telling a decent story is a real ambition, because of the way the ideas work. Ancient storytelling was portable knowledge, and it's an incredibly effective method, a real joy to read. Some of my favorite stories are Aesop, and Voltaire's "Zadig", which is his shot at traditional story telling, and a really impressive series of tales, even by the standard of "Candide". Occasionally, I get it right.
