you mean at the police impound yard? if so then you need to call the impound yard and ask them. if the car is at a towing companies lot then it varies by company and even state i think. where i lived in california they kept property for like 30days or until the tow company was able to legally transfer ownership to themselves as an abandoned vehicle (thinks it abandoned). course that might be something that is different for each state etc. you need to call the place the car is being stored at and ask, because unless the car and the stuff inside is being held as evidence or are considered part of an investigation, they have to give you your personal property...even if you cant afford to get the car out.
