People and Problems Crazy Coincidences

Well, yeah... I don't quite know what to title this, but the wierdest thing happened in my American Lit class today, with that the teacher was talking about, and how it all related to my life. Just a little background... I used to be dating this girl, i was totally in love with her, and crazy about her. Well, we went out 3 times over the course of like 3 and a half years, and we broke up and june, and slowly drifted apart. So lately, I've been thinking about her more than ever, and I'm really sad because i miss her so much. So today in English, our teacher was talking about the story "The Devil and Tom Walker" about a guy who sells his soul to the devil for material wealth. She starts talking about how when people are weak and voulnerable, thats when you need to be the most on guard to evil people and things. She goes on to talk about how when you're hurt, you're really weak. She starts talking about how you CAN love someone too much (I think she was divorced before, and is now married) and that if you are in love, you open your self up to be hurt. And she sang the lyrics to some country song about how like, if you're low and in hell because things are so bad, just keep running and you might get out before the devil takes notice. While she was talking, looked at me a few times, and it really felt like she was just talking to me, telling me that i'll get through it and about how being hurt so bad makes you so weak. Has anyone else felt like teachers or anyone can tell whats going on? Or just had anyone in general happen to be talking about something that applied right to you? It really just caught my attention and it was almost scary!
