Why are the majority of legends, scientists and famour people mostly male?

I had seen from old time very gew female scientist, legends like Madem Curie, Indira Gandhi, Madonna, Jansi Ki Rani etc. But comparatively they are very less in ratio to male legends and sceincetists.

It is a combination of factors. Mostly I think it is that women are less ego driven and less driven by selfish motives that could lead to fame. Women, can't help it but, are driven by an inborn desire (most of them) to nurture and to raise a family. This leads to a lot of the great woman behind the great man sort of thing and less of the great woman sort of thing. I did not create the world this way, so please, go easy on me for pointing this out. :-)
