Where am I in this universe?

Where am I in this universe? - Universe.

Alright guys & gals, this is a rather philosophical question so I would appreciate intelligent answers. One exception would be witty answers packed with humors - I love them always so they are right anytime. :P So what do you think? Where are we in this universe? Where am I? Where are you? I am not referring to the geographic location... I can easily push a search to Google Earth. :P What is our place in this universe? Do we have a place? Is it even our place? What kind of existence are we supposed to lead? Are we supposed to live according to some divine plan? Do we even have a choice... is what we are thinking now even predetermined? I understand that I have bombarded you with many questions. You may wish to answer all, or some, or one, or even give your trademark wit. I appreciate them all and as always, I rate every response with a "+" automatically UNLESS you are so obviously straightforward in your intention to simply increase your post count. Shame on you if so! :P * If you answer the most and the best, you will likely be given the best response award. I *do* mark best responses. Discussions not marked are just waiting for the right answers. :P

LOL, wizard, just what's eating you that you decide to come up with this rather "phylosophical questions." If you're not a religious person, then I'll give you one analysis of my own. You and I are here on this earth to experience life, to learn and to seek our destiny. We are here on a temporary basis because we all know, one way or another, that we need to say bye-bye to this earth someday. You were born with a mind and a heart to use it freely and to ask yourself what kind of existence you like to lead. You have the prerogative to follow the right path or you may choose the other way. As to live according to divine plan, you will be the only one who can answer that. Do you believe in the existence of God or do you prefer to believe in the existence of the unknown. For the people with deep religious faith like me, I believe our life is predertmined way before we're born. Whew...this discussion is muddling my brain. Happy posting!!!

The topic appears Zen to me. Hmmm... This is fun. I could use a little head, but then, I have a big head:P We are just a dot in this universe. I am just a pixel of a dot. So are you. We are all pixel composits. Where do these composits reside? No where. It is just bobbling in the universe. Universe? what is the universe? Just a bubble, round like the big orange by the side of this post. Unlike the big head here, the dot has no fixed position, it has no relative angle. Hence, there is no fixed place. It is not your place, it is not mine. The dot just roam as freely as the thoughts in my big head. We exist because of who we are. Who we are now is a result of our own divines. We are our own guardians. Our thinking changed when we globble more rust floating around, breathing in more ooze than oxygen. So when the equation is synthesised, who is there to predetermine what we think? The only thing I know now is that I deserve the best response. You are going to give it to me. You have no choice but to give me because great minds think alike :p

Where are you in the universe? they say we are like dots or a pixel or a black entity that's lying all throughout the galaxy. Or we are a cell living in a vast place of molecules and atoms. I'll just answer your question plain and simple. Base on my religion, we are brought here on earth where God has prepared for us to do, to think, to live and to desire what we wish for according to our divine will. Giving us the choice to do what we want to do. To live a life of our own and that's why you and me are here in this part of our universe.

Is it wrong to even question whether God exist? Are those who question like spoiled pixels on a LCD screen? Bad pixels on a LCD screen cannot be fixed. Does this mean we will never come close to God - if he exists?

oh gosh thats a great question. considering the size of the universe, then considering the sizes of the sun and planetary family, earth is just a small ball. and one is just 1/1ooooomillionth part (or even +) compared to the universe. haha ha ok now if we consider the hindu scientific heritage the day of Brahma is called Kalpa which lasts for about 432 crore years. The night of Brahma is also equally long. now each Kalpa is divided into 14 manvantaras or secondary cycles, each comprising of about 30 crore years approxmately. In turn each manvantara contains 71 mahayugas and each mahayuga is further divided into four ages Kruta yuga, Treta yuga, Dvapara yuga and Kali yuga. each of the yugas last for different periods, roughly between 4 to 17 lakh years. We are presently in the last yuga i.e kali yuga of the 28th mahayuga of the 7th manvantara of the Varaha kalpa. Now Lordwarwizard, if we compare the average life expectancy of present humans to that of even a yuga, we are just living for say 60 years. Out of these 60 years ones active life is just 15-20 years. i think i went too long on that. i could go writing another 2k of lines on this but oooof i stop here.

I think, yes it's true, it's the twilight zone! That's where we are, each one in our own twilight zone. Well, maybe it's just me! But no matter, at least things stay interesting.. Spirituality - One of my favorite pictures. This was sent to me by a friend who thought I'd get enjoyment out of it. She was right. I LOVE Photos like this.
I do believe we're here to follow a life path that was set out by us and our Spirit Guides before we were born into this lifetime. At the same time while we're traveling this path, we DO have choices and the free will to make our own decisions. My personal belief is that we have many lifetimes, and that we're all here for different purposes. I don't think our thought process is predetermined, but I do think that some of the bigger events in our lives are predetermined, such as who our family is, who our love will be, who we'll divorce, or have children with and so on, because there is a lesson to be learned from every one of those experiences whether it be good or bad.

OK, this is your belief. A very nice belief if I may say so. But since this is a discussion in philosophy, you need to prove that this is the cave. Proof needs to be given that we have a life path and that it is good for us to follow that life path. My life path may run contrary to your own. What if fulfilling my means taking something from you that you need to fulfill your path? Does it make it OK for me to take it?

This reminds me an episode of Futurama: __ You, Fry, are the most important person in the universe. You mean what I think when I'm drunk is true? Yes, except the David Matthew's Band does not, in fact, rock. __ Sorry pop-cultural moment over. Good question. I think all most of your questions can be boiled down into two questions, is their such a thing as fate? Should we fight against fate or submit to it?

First off, we are a dot, if that big even, in the universe. The universe is so vast and large. I am in a dot, in a city, in a state, in a country, on the earth, included with stars and other planets. Our existance is not flesh, but spirital. Our inner selves. The part that continues, long after our flesh turns back to dust. We live according to a devine plan, with some mistakes of our choices messing it up at times. I hope that you are pleased with this, as that is how I really feel. Have a blessed day my friend.

Do we have a place? Only if you give us one! Is it even our place? It is your place! What kind of existence are we supposed to lead? The existence you allow us! Are we supposed to live according to some divine plan? I live for your divine plan! Do we even have a choice... is what we are thinking now even predetermined? I think what you allow me to think. I have no choice but to bow down and worship you, lordwarwizard! Now that I have pissed off a few and made a few chuckle I will be off to bed, That is if I may! ;)

we are all connected in some way regardless of whether you belive in creationism or darwenism. we are all made up of atoms and molecules - if you believ in god then this is the connection that binds us, if you believe in evolution and the big bang then we are all created and desended from the product of that which is again how we are connected. in the scheme of things we seem tiny but are all important and necessary parts of the whole.

Ahhh? How do you know the Universe was created from a single event? You have a belief that the Universe was created from a Big Bang, like GOD said and it was... Could there be a flaw in what you were taught? I do push the edges of the envelope don't I? But consider what we all know, the universe is infinite, how do you create something that goes on forever in all directions from nothing? Critical thinking applied to this thought and you realize that I am right, now about all the material that is floating around in the universe. All of this material always existed ever changing and every constant, all floating around like living organisms condensing and expanding, exploding and pulling material in. Constant change, multiple explosions at random times, all over the universe stars so far apart and yet part of galaxies with millions of stars as a collective unit. From where we stand a million stars look like a single object. The answer has always been right before our eyes, we just have to open our minds to the fact that everything we believed was a lie and look with new vision. Remember the earth was once thought to be the center of the solar system, and it wasn't round it was flat back then. We have evolved and so does our religion. The truth is the way to be followed. Can you prove a lie?

As far as we know, we are the most important beings in the universe. At least until we find credible evidence that there is life on another planet, then we will one of two of the most important beings in the universe. We give meaning to mere existence. I find it incredibly humbling that I am the product of my parents genes and they are the product of their parents genes and they are the product of a thousand other random encounters between people choosing to form particular human relations with each other and other families. By chance one particular sperm was a bit faster than another and chose to impregnate one particular egg. This process has led to my existence as I am today. Isn't that a type of miracle? Doesn't that make me more important than a puny star, that just has to be?

Outstanding Puzzle... I love questions that will give me a headahe... I need to sleep after this. :p Where are we in this universe? Are we part of the universe or are we the universe? Am I the leg, hand or head? Am I the soul or the body? Am I an individual (cell) or collective (cells)? I am everywhere and nowhere. What is our place in this universe? Do we have a place? Is it even our place? Am I a cell or maybe I am not? If so which part of the body do I belong to, if not... where do I go? What kind of existence are we suppose to lead? Am I a brain cell, liver cell, muscle cell or maybe I am neither... Are we suppose to live according to some divine plan? Yes, it seems that way, but whats the plan? Do we even have a choice... is what we are thinking now even predeterminded? It seems that we do have a choice. That doesn't mean that there isn't some divine intervention to make you change your choices. I believe I have answered you and failed to answer you. :)

why did |I read this in the middle of the night when my brain is fried. Not sure if I have any intelligent conversation left in me. Our place in the universe is to be a part of its great wonder. We were not meant to be passive watchers but active seekers of the truth. We are energy, thoughts are energy, we have that ability as does our creator who gave it to us. Our thoughts can take us to places beyond the beyond, to places others have not yet dreamed about. The power is within us in stellar fashion like the astral bodies we see with our naked eye. We have a place and a function in the cosmos, every one of us must find the path that leads to our own true cosmic light.

You are so right. There are so many questions, but I think it boils down to "What is our place in the universe? Is it even our place?" I know you do not agree with Biblical teaching, but it is the basis for my whole life since I was 22 years old and I have never known God to be unfaithful to His Word, so I will answer from there. God had a definite purpose when He created the whole universe. The crowning glory of His creation was the creation of humans, for whom He had created a beautiful world for them to enjoy. His desire was to have a people with whom He would enjoy happy communication and fellowship, which He did, walking and talking with them in the garden - until their disobedience, their sin, made that impossible. Since God is totally perfect, nothing imperfect can be in His presence. This didn't take God by surprise. He knew it would happen and even before He created the world, He had planned that in time He would send a Redeemer who would make it possible for people to willingly follow Him. God told these plans to Adam immediately after Adam sinned, and continued to tell His people for hundreds of years before finally sending the Redeemer, Jesus Christ, as promised. What is my place in this universe? I am God's created being, re-created through spiritual re-birth to know, love and serve Him. I enjoy the splendour of His handiwork, even though it has been abused by mankind. I worship Him and enjoy His constant companionship. I praise Him for the way He undertakes in my life. I live for Him.

You are lucky to find a religion you can wholly believe in. If you tell me you pick and choose parts in the bible to believe in, then I would hesitate to say you are a true Christian. I have seen too many who simply practise the bits they like.:P You mentioned the garden - I presume you are talking about the garden of Eden. Then, there weren't that many humans for God to make merry with. There were only 2 - Adam & Eve. Good effort nevertheless.:P

Interesting discussion...let me also get philosophical about this. I believe that when a person is born a whole divine plan in laid out for them. But this divine plan is like a tree. It starts with one choice and then branches out into multiple choices. For eg: I was meant to come across mylot. But whether i become a member or not is all depending on my choice. If i become a member i can earn some extra money and if I dont become a member then maybe I would search some more sites and become a member somewhere else. Does that make any sense? So we all always have choices and our life pattern changes based on the choices we make. We choose our own destinies -whether to be a speck in the world or to be a larger part of this world.

I guess we are an in a universal plane ..Our place in this universe is to live a life beyond compare..Our place is within our minds...The open space is our place..It is the place of the entire humanity...We live in the existence of our own selves over and over again...A divine plan? We can never tell..but we are supposed to live in what we believe in..We have a choice to live our life in whatever and however we think is fit for us. Predetermined? It depends in what you believe in...I might not even be believing in what I am saying to you myself so we can never tell..

Once at least in our life time we all have these questions 1. Where are we in this universe? We are in the right place at the right time.We are the most intelligent of all creation because god created us in his own image so definitely he is reflected through us.So in this vast universe with all its beauty and mysteries he placed us in the middle of all this. For though he created all, man thinks no end of himself, but if we look at creation we can understand that we are nothing but a speck in all that exists.Just because he made us in his image we think we can play God.So,definitely he has put us in our right place!!!!Nothing in this whole universe is ours. That takes care of our place. 2.What kind of existance we are supposed to lead? We are supposed to lead the most beautiful, loving ,peaceful and divine existance. But unfortunately we try to imitate God and bring about disasters after disasters with our wonderful reasoning. For imitation is not the real thing. To be him or like him is not a wrong thought that is the quest of our whole existance, for he walked away from us because we have fallen from our divine state,(i am not talking about the story of adam and eve). Not that he literally walked away, our reasoning has poisoned our minds and brought with it unknown feelings of guilt, jealousy, anger, greed and what not,and we shyed away from him unable to face him or forgive ourselves. He is just waiting for us with open arms to hug and welcome us,if only we can call upon him sincerely. For he is a loving god and will never ever want us to burn in hell or suffer. He doesnt even want our sorry, Actually we ourselves dont know what to be sorry for.unfortunately our consciouns will get the better of us and we are unable to forgive ourselves. Then how will we stand in front of him even if he wants to. 3.Regarding divine plan!!!!!!! even if there is one will we allow it to be fulfilled.Poor God!! even though he has given us the best and wants to give us more we have a great mind that will hop, skip and jump, scheme and plot our present and it will write our future. For we make rules,a policy of give and take and judge ourselves in the same yardstick, make our choices and blame it on God. The subject we are discussing wizard is very vast . This is my sincere opinion. There may be others who differ. For me the whole universe and creation is absolutely perfect including humans. It is the mind that confuses everything makes it complex and it is the root cause of our sufferings.

You have been very vague when you mentioned the divine plan of your God. I am still unsure whether you think there *is* indeed a plan, or what. You talk about making changes, that individual effort at changes add to the whole. But how do you know what to do?

no, We dont sit there and rot we sit here and rot... just kidding.Every human is responsible for the state that we are in so each of us has to make a change and that change can come only with our conviction and our sincere effort the change has to come from deep within our hearts , that we would make a difference to make this a better place ."little drops of water makes a mighty ocean' and this would be a better place. And also we need to tame our minds the most difficult task in the whole of creation. But we will ultimately learn for if there is a beginning there also has to be an end.Luckily for us hope is one thing that will pull us through all our trials and tribulations. And i am sure that god wont let us be in this state of confusion for ever he would have already planned and designed a way to get us all out of this mess.
