Nothing makes a house smell more like a home than fresh bread. I loveto make bread. I make all different kinds. This is a wonderful loaf of bread to be eaten as a late night snack or even for breakfast. My husband loves to take fresh made bread in his lunch bucket and this is just the right consistency for lunches. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do. Fruit Nut Bread 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened 1 cup sugar 2 eggs, beaten 3 bananas, mashed 2 cups flour 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1-1/4 cups chopped nuts 1/4 cup chocolate chips 1/4 cup marachino cherries, diced Cream butter and sugar and add beaten eggs, then add mashed bananas. Sift flour, salt and soda together. Add to butter mixture. Stir just to moisten and then stir in nuts, chocolate chips and maraschino cherries. Bake in a greased 9" loaf pan at 350 for about 40 minutes.

My mom used to make this all the time when I was growing up - thank you for posting this! It brings back a lot of great memories.

Hubby loves breads with fruit in them. So do I. He will eat it all day if I make a loaf. Often when the loaf is baked in the morning, it is gone by days end.

This looks really good. I love these kinds of breads although I don't make them very often because I don't have very many recipes for them. My family really likes banana bread though and I'm sure they'd like this because of the chocolate chips and cherries.

That bread sounds delicious! I wonder if I could make it in my breadmachine? Maybe I'll just have to use the breadmachine recipe for banana bread and add the nuts, chocolate chips, and cherries? Anyways, thanks for the recipe!
