Is it the thinking person's lot to end up cynical

Have you ever seen the movie the breakfast club? When Molly Ringwald tells the group that she is never going to grow up to be like her parents. Then Ally Sheedy tells her "you can't stop it. It's inevitable. When you grow up your heart...just...dies." Well when I was young I always swore the same thing and I always swore that I would try to retain a child's sense of wonder and satisfaction with the world around me. However I am sad to say that today at the age of 32 I have started to notice a real trend of cynicism. In the wt I aproach things, the way that I think about things that people tell me or that I hear about from all the usual sources newspapers, tv,internet, etc, and even the expressions that I use have cynical connoations and overtones to them for me. Not only that, if it were just that I would ignore the stuff and just count myself mature and normal. The worst part is I am starting to say the exact same things my mother used to say to me as a kid. Let me tell you, when you open your mouth and hear your Mom's voice pop out saying something so quintessentially "her", that is some $cary $hit. I kid you not!! But I was wondering, does this happen to everyone or is it reserved for women only or women who dislike their mother's? How old are you? Are you cynical? Were you more optomistic when you were younger?
