Global Warming - is it getting serious?

I've just read an article in my local papers that the polar ice cap has shrunk quite a bit and there was a picture of it. It can be quite frightening when you come to think of it. Over the last year, there were so many freaks of weather. In Malaysia, there were continuous heavy rainfall not seen in 80 years causing massive flooding. The story is repeated in China and Europe and US have places with arctic like conditions while others were almost summery. Tokyo had NO snow during the winter months which NEVER happened before. This reminded me of the film "The Day After Tomorrow" in which massive tsunamis and deep freeze happened so quickly that people have no time to react. Then there is this talk of the SUPER Hurricanes. What is this world coming to.

Global warming... hmm... whose responsibility is it? It's the Government's because they can pass law to protect the environment. It's the Businesses, if they are more environmentally friendly, there wouldn't be such a problem. It's NOT our responsibility because although we are the ones who are creating demand. We are making constructive contribution, we are supporting the Government with taxes and Businesses with profits. They are suppose to protect our planet not us, we earn the right to continue to ask for cheapers products (mass production, massive wastage of resources). Not sharing our technology with others, so we can fill our coffers with bunch of papers. (And bad technology means more wastage.) We must continue our lifestyle of wastage, because it means we are rich. Besides if islands start to sink, thats their business, we live on high grounds. The world is too overcrowded anyway. The end of the world? I am no longer around, not my business. What is the world coming to? An END :D

Governments have the responsibility to provide the infrastructure and ways and means but we too have a part to play. That reminds me of a news report on the champion of global warming protection Al Gore. While he goes arouund telling everyone to use less his vast mansion gobbles up energy equal to ten times what an average household uses. So is that hypocracy of what.

LOL... I was being sacarstic. There is a lot of bullshit about saving the world, the only way I find that works best is to do it yourself. Goverments are full of short sighted people and most of them got no guts to do what needs to be done. Alright I am done talking about politics. Can't change the majority of the population overnight. Biofuel vs Hydrogen fuel cell, sun power grids in desert vs traditional power or nuclear generators. The list goes one... Only way to do it, do it yourself, influence your family, friends... taking it a step at a time.

Recently, scientists of the Harvard University discovered that one of the five ice-beds of the North Pole has been disintegrated drastically within past one year. This fact was never noticed until last week of November 2006. It has also been noticed that this big ice-bed is now floating on the North Sea. This floated ice-bed can now start approaching down towards the north boundary of Canada. Scientists are trying to keep an eye on the movement of this ice-bed. Satellites are helping in this regard by sending continuous pictures and data of this ice-bed. The most worried part of this incident, apart from the Global Warming, is that if by any chance this ice object reaches near to the border of Canada, it may create a great problem for the ships which are regularly traveling near the border of Canada. There is a good article in AC. Just read that. You will understand we have something to do to prevent Global Warming. http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/156681/how_to_prevent_global_warming.html
