Will a heavier (300 lb) male lose weight quicker than the average person?

He have been eating healthy for the past two months now (not starving himself and focusing on nutricious foods) plus working out on a treadmill/eliptical trainer for 45 minutes a day 4 to 5 time per week. He seems to be dropping 3 to 4 ponds a week, is this normal since everywhere I read says lose no more than 2 lbs per week. I assume its beacuse his weight started much higher than the average person. What do you think?
