do you feel like tech is outstripping our ability to "stay up to date"?

Often when you hear things like, by the time your computer hits the shelves in your local distributorship it is already obsolete.8-10 years ago when this expressuion started to circulate, it seemed like everyone's Computer r & d department went on steroids! ere are so many companies makeing innovations daily to a science that is steadily evolving. The problem is, that many people cannot afford to replace their computer and peripherals every 6 mos to a year. Where as the only way to get the most bang out of your buck is to buy direct from the manufacturer with optional upgrades and customization for the specific person who is going to use it. Doesn't it frustrate you how fast everything is evolving and generation tumbles out upon generation of the hottest newest thing while you just managed to save up for the last hot new thing.

Staying "up to date" will always let us try to catch up. But being "updated" is a direct relation to HOW MUCH WE CAN AFFORD TO BE "UPDATED." If money was no problem then we'll hardly feel burdened by the chore of constantly trying to catch up with technology but for the most of us it's just not practical. Why would we pay $400 or more for a new windows OS that has so many problems and why would we pay $800 for a video card that'll become nearly obsolete within just a quarter of the year? It all boils down to how much financial power we have and how much are we willing to invest in that because truth be told... being "upgraded" and "up to date" has more significance about being part of the "in" and "social" crowd rather than it has anything to do with technology.
