Lenten season has just began. And one way that one can offer a sacrifice to God is fasting. What is your idea about fasting? When i was in my sophomore year in college, I joined a Charismatic organization in the University. It's a Catholic group that serve, praise and worship God in your own way, may it be through singing, dancing, etc. When I joined that organization, we were taught that fasting doesn't only refer to the food that we eat. It also pertains to abstain the things that you most love doing as a form of sacrifice to God. Their explanation was, not everyone are allowed to fast on food especially if they have ulcer or hyperacidity. Just like in my case, I have a hyperacidity, so I should not avoid eating food. What i can probably do is to lessen my habit in watching tv perhaps, or just abstain the things you like doing. And that's what i'm practicing when I do fasting. I usually pray first to ask God His enlightenment on what thing does He ask me to offer Him. I don't know with you guys if you practice or even believe the same belief and faith that I have. BUt I'm pretty sure you have also your own way and definition of fasting.

in the Religion that I follow the rule of fast is you may take up to 3 meals in a day, but the two smaller meals when combined must be less than the main meal. Meat may be taken at the main meal only (except on Fridays where it is not taken at all) If people have medical reasons they are not bound to the rules of fast, and it is good to fast from an enjoyment like you mentioned. Even practicing a time of celibacy within marriage can be a good fast.

I always use to do fasting, but this I haven't started yet. I am thinking of fasting two weeks before Easter. I am going to fast on all dairy foods and meats.
