Read it, pass by it or something else?

I know you read a lot of discussions before replying to one. But what do you do with the unresponded ones? Do you just close them without posting any comment or do you comment? For my part, I just rate all the posts in that discussion, those ones which are read by me. I don't like to comment in any discussion until I myself have replied to it...

I very seldom make a comment in discussions unless it's also one I've responded to. There are some cases where I'll add a comment to ones response then add my own response also. I also try to add comments to others responses to my own discussions as it shows that I read their responses etc.

I find it unacceptable to just comment. Something like commenting to passer-bys. Is it so ??
