What would you wear?

Suppose you are going to be introduced to a large body of people. You are not going to be allowed to speak or do any type of actions. Those 'meeting' you will 'get to know you' strictly by what you are wearing. What would you wear that would tell them the most about you, what you stand for, and what you believe in?

All I wear is black, so I suppose thats what I would have to stick to. However, I would cover myself in different badges so they could see what I believe in, what I stand for and who I disagree with. I'm sure by the time they have read them all they will either be a comrade, or would have quickly retreated!! :O)

Oh, now that is an interesting twist! I hadn't ever thought of wearing badges to state your beliefs!Great idea and not against the 'rules.' Kudos!

Well, it would depend on the group I would be standing in front of. If they were business people, I would dress in one of my funky suits. If it was business casusal, I'd wear the leopard print dress I inherited from my grandmother. If it were casual casual, I'd wear my favorite pair of jeans, my new sneakers, and a funny t-shirt in the summer, sweatshirt in the winter - it has to be one of the funny ones.

I would have to wear a shirt with a picture of Jesus on it, or a bible scripture . That way they would know that I love the Lord, and walk with Him.

Good job Margie! That is a great idea! You would also have to stick a pair of scissors behind one ear and a paintbrush behind the other!

I would wear comfortable yet neat blue jeans, my new Buffalo Sabres Hockey jersey over a matching gold or blue long-sleeved t-shirt, and comfortable flats. That would show that I am a neurotic Sabres fan and that I believe that we are going all the way to win the Stanley Cup this year!

Hi Laurie! Great answer! I'll cheer them on to...just for you! You mean there wouldn't even be a stethoscope around your neck to identify you as a nurse?! Oh wait, I know...you could wear a nurse's cap!

I have a nice skirt and blazer with a white blouse. It is very modest and professional looking. I think those are the two most important qualities that I want to project to others. I want to show that i respect myself thus the modest length of the skirt. I also want to look like I am dependable and professional. I think that showing that I respect myself by wearing a modest skirt and blazer also gives the impression that I would respect others and treat them with respect.

jean capris to show that I am laid back and easy to be around. A black tank that I own with a beaded cross on it just because it is so awesome...it's a little form fitting and shows off my cleavage to show that I may be a bigger girl, but I am secure in myself and I can be a little sexy and fun. and, my denim short sleeve button up over the tank just because I am a bigger girl and I need to cover up a little...this will show that I may like myself, but I also know my limitations and I am not like some big people who wear bikinis or stretch pants. LOL

HaHa!! (I got a visual of myself in a bikini...with the bikini lost in the rolls!) I like the self confidence you would be portraying with your chosen clothes!

I would carefully pour through my closet to pick the most flattering clothes for me. I'm sure that black would be a part of it, in the slacks or skirt... and certainly the shoes! And I would wear either blue or red on top because I think I look good in them. I think unless I wore some message t-shirt on top, I couldn't give a huge message about what I believe in, so I would stick with the nonverbal cues and wear something soft and touchable and no-nonsense. It's probably quite superficial of me, but I would mostly want to make sure I looked pleasing because I feel that I am a warm and pleasant person and I want people to understand that.

I would wear a suit and tie. My wife says a guy always looks good in a suit and tie. People see success when they see a person in a nice suit and tie. And along with that a nice haircut and clean shaven.

Hi, now I am laughing for reading your post and some post replies by the others. Since you just tell us about "introducing to large body of people", so It is quite fade decreption. Well, when we are talking large body of people, they can be many kind of them. I can not give them any boundary on them. In facing such crowds I am considering for neat and clean apperance and the most important part I must be confident to be with anyone of them. I always practice that, so I do not have any trouble to face anybody, no matter how "big" or "small" they are.

by saying "neat and clean appearance" I am considering for nice blaus and slect. I think everybody could accept this, it is not too formal but it is not too casual. It suits enough for everybody :)

I would wear my kilt, a t-shirt of my favorite band (this way they could also see my tattooed arms), my "nihilism" bracelet and I would have a rubber chicken under my arm.

A large body of people that aren't corporate right? Cause then I'd have to wear a business suit. But given the choice and I could wear anything I want, I'd probably have a neat top and a pair of nice jeans with comfortable heels.

Firstly it depends where are you going and with whom you are going to meet. if there is not constraints then i would like to wear comfortable jeans and a white colour t-shirt, but colour would also depend on the situation and availability. I feel comfortable in jeans and t-shirt so i prefer this. but if it is a business meet, official meet then ofcourse I will wear business attire

When in doubt, you should rather overdress than underdress. This is never wrong as a general rule of thumb. Office attire is the best for the scenario you described.

i think first impression is the last one so you should wear something that goes totally with the mode of the gathering

If it's a formal gathering than I would suggest formal dressing like a suit and if you are not a suit kind of person than a white shirt or some other light shade and black formal pants. But, if it is more informal, I would actually suggest that you don't bother about the gathering and rather dress on whatever you feel most comfortable for. Most of the time in an endeavor to dress for the occassion we end up in dresses where we are not comfortable and actually end up giving a worse first impression by looking uncomfortable. So based on the occassion pick your choice. Cheers! Ram PS: When in doubt, dress for position which you are targetting for ;)
