To be, or not to be important

How important is it to you, to gain the respect of your friends and family? would you go out on a limb for them?

without respect you can't make any friends ,and you can be marginalised in society. its very important to respect people and also to be repected by your relatives,friends and schoolmates.

of course, I would assume everyone wants to be respected, however what about when it crosses the line? such as your family insulting, or disrespecting friends or those close to you?
