The tooth fairy always left me a quarter but that was a LONG time ago. My oldest daughter has always got at least a dollar, up to $3.00 per tooth. Usually if she gets over a dollar it is because the tooth fairy forgot to stop by or was overbooked that evening. lol (good thing she is 11 and understands these things) I think a dollar is a good amount per tooth. One thing I do with my kids is have them leave their tooth in a paper cup in the window sill in our kitchen instead of under their pillow. That way they are not up all night waiting for her to reach under their pillow. Oh, and the tooth fairy is more likely to notice the cup in the window and not forget to leave some money. lol

First tooth was always a special tooth and they usually got a dollar and a gift, like a Barbie Doll or GI Joe, etc. After that it was a buck a tooth. I have to admit though that the tooth fairy was the most forgetful of our holiday friends!!!!!! LOL She often got caught up in a rain storm or snow storm and would probably be back the next day. Of course then she would give an extra buck or 50 cents. LOL
I've heard the same though.. kids that get huge dollar amounts! Sort of takes the fun out of it all if it's like a freaking JOB doesn't it? LOL

Around here, most parents give $1 per tooth, so that's what I've always done too. It does seem very high. I only got a quarter when I was a kid! But I guess with inflation, a dollar isn't too bad! lol!
All my friends give their kids $1 too, so it works out well for us. All our kids are getting the same amount and couldn't complain about a cheap tooth fairy! lol!

A handful of whatever is laying around. My younger son is more impressed qith quantity rather than how much each coin is worth. Generally it is probably about a euro, but we do make a big fuss of how nice and shiny the teeth are, or point out if it is less the case.

I used to give my children just a few pennies. Now my daughter give hers a couple of euros and because my grandchildren have a room in my house, I also leave a couple of euros under their pillows for the next time they come to stay. I think $20 is a little excessive as they have quite a lot of teeth to lose...lol.
