I have been using Norton for many years now and I completely trust it. Avast is slowly picking up. I have 2 pcs with me, once I installed AVG on one of them, it got fully infected with virus, I didn't know this until I transfered a file from this computer to the other one. 99 out of hundred times norton will be able to detect all viruses. I agree that It consumes a lot of resources but can't efford that much for the protection of your pc.

Of these three, you have to consider the detection rates, presence of realtime scanning, protection against polymorphic viruses, and whether all files are checked. You also have to consider the effect on system performance. Now Norton has the highest detection rate of these as well as excellent protection against polymorphic viruses. However, it really slows down your system. The detection rates of Avast! is good, but that of AVG slightly worse(in fact it has one of the worst detection rates) among the standard anti-viruses. So, if protection of your system is the main aim, then Norton is the best among these, but if you want a free product with a good system performance, then Avast! is better. However, for free products, the best anti-virus is AOL Active virus Shield, it has a much higher detection rate as well as gives better system performance.Being based on the Kaspersky engine, it has a higher detection rate than all other paid anti-viruses (www.virus.gr, http://freesoftwarereviews.blogspot.com). For paid anti-viruses, the best anti-virus is either NOD32 or Kaspersky.

i use Avast Anti-virus now!! its amazing...its an intense scanner...that doesnt let the adwares and viruses even peek 2wards ur computer!! i had norton before...but my laptop started becoming slower n slower day by day! it always showed ' no virus, adware on your computer' every tym i performed a scan!! but when i loaded the Avast A-V...it detected 3 adwares...and that too in the windowz file ((it had managed to instal itself there!) imagine the damage tht cud hav happened!! nyway....after that i havnt even looked twice at nortan!! and im very proud of avast!!^_^

i use norton but it needs a lot of memory. i think avg and avast is much lighter. i have used avg but i haven't use avast. i am contented with what norton can provide for my pc. :) but i am thinking switching it to kaspersky.

I'm using AVG and I absolutely adore it.Norton used to interfere with some of my programs and give me problems, but this never happened with AVG:) I strongly suggest that you all give it a try:D

AVG Avast is the best. - free - real time and web scan - quick auto-update - high detection rate - it uses very few resources (Norton is too heavy, and give may problem to other programs - and it's not free)

Im using AVG AVAST right now and it works perfectly on my computer. I never tried Norton before but I heard good response from some of its user. I can never say which one is better until I tried them all.

Are you looking for a choice between AVG and Norton only? or asking for other users' suggestion on other AntiVirus products? Personally I hate both AVG and Norton products. I love BitDefender AntiVirus Products. You can try it for yourself. Other AntiVirus products I'd suggest is Kespersky. Hope you'll find the best.
