So, basically i am going to buy a new one but i am very poor in computer technology knowledge, all I know is pentium III, IV processors, i want to know better processors i.e higher than pentium IV. Sorry for my poor english, please help me out if you know something. Thank you

Ya I think all your works can be easinly done with your present computer configuration but if you want the latest one then I would recommend:- Asus or Intel 965 motherboard(here it costs around Rs. 10,000) if you do not want to buy graphics card else depends on your choice, Intel core 2 duo processor(cost starts from Rs. 10,000), 1 Gb ram Hynix, Corsair or Micron(costs around again Rs. 10,000), DVD writer, 17 inch TFT monitor(costs around Rs. 15,000) and the other parts like mouse, keyboard etc. as per your wish.

I think too many people post answers without knowing what they are talking about. Intel makes two different kinds of dual core processors. The Pentium D is a dual core Pentium 4 processor. It will only give you a slight improvement over your current PC. The Core 2 Duo is a NEW processor that uses NEW technology. It is the fastest processor currently on the market and wins every benchmark when tested against other CPUs. What do you use your computer for? Frankly, the Pentium 4 is a good processor for any basic tasks. The only reason to get a better processor is if you are a gamer or do alot of heavy video editing and multimedia work. If you are a gamer then the next step up would be the AMD Athlon64 series or the Intel Core 2 Duo.

Taskr36 is right. First off, you really have to look at your reason for upgrading. Have you been using your current system lately and come to the conclusion that you could really use a performance increase? Or, do you just want to buy a new pc for the sake of it. If you are only using your system to check e-mail a do basic web browsing then your P4 is adequate. But if you multitask a lot -opening and sifting through numerous windows and programs, and if you do any image or video editing, then the intel Core 2 duo is the way to go. I'm not sure what the retail chains are like in India, but out here in America in chains like Best Buy, and the -soon to be out of business- Comp USA, you can find the Core 2 duo E6300 systems for around $600 or so depending on the configuration. These are on the low end of the Core 2 duo line. Me being a power user I would never consider that version, but for the average user it would be very nice. Then there is the E36400 which are a little better with higher processor speed, running closer to the $900 and $1000 mark. Then there is the E36600 which has double the L2 cache, giving it a marked speed improvement in most situations, this is the chip I'm looking to get, but you don't find too many of them in the Retail establishments, perhaps because it starts to stretch beyond what the avarage user wants to pay for a setup. Then ther is the E36700 which has a bit more processor speed at a lot more price, so most people over look that one. And finally the E36800, which they call the 'Extreme Chip'. That one is HELLA nice, it has twice the L2 cache of even the 6600 and 6700 models, but it's also hella expensive. I myself won't be lookign to go that route for a while because it's cost prohibitive even for me. Sorry for the Tech manual, but in short, if you really are looking for a speed and performance improvement over your old system, but you only use it for basic task, then a E36300 will do fine, but it may be a good idea to have at the very least 1 gig of RAM, if you have a little more money to blow, then an E36400 will be a little better. If you do any image or video editing, or play any games, then If it's not cost prohibitive I would suggest the E36600 to keep from dating your system any time in the near future, and then maybe add another Gig of RAM to have 2 Gigs as soon as you can afford it. Ultimately, you shouldn't judge what is out of date for you by what the latest and greatest is. That should be determined by if your current computer can no longer accomplish what you need it to do comfortably, and by your pocket book. Which means only you can decide that. The best we can do is provide you with as much information as possible so that you can make the most informed decision you can when it's time for you to upgrade, so you can come to the decision yourself what would benefit you most. Anyways, hope that helps, good luck!

What is it that your present computer doesn't do that you want it to? Don't rush to buy one just to keep up with fashion, just a waste of money all the best urban

I'm agree with you, no need for just keeping up with fashion and I think pentium IV works good.

well if u want a a system having processor higher than pentium IV then u can go for dual core processors and 64 bit processors. and as a system the best option would be a laptop with high configuration. as i belive u can go for laveno y series laptop with face recognision authentication if u wish. but the main fact for buying a system is what is ur requirement.
