It seems as though rap may finally be loosing the interest of the general public. Apparently, the labels producing these records are struggling to make any sales. Do you think this is going to lead to the demise of the rap industry, or is this decline due to bootlegged copies of the music hitting the streets?

I think part of it has to do with bootlegging and downloading from the internet. Then you must also take into effect that there are more people producing RAP now so the sales may be higher or the same, but since it is being spread through so many more companies, it looks like a sharp decline.

Supposedly, the record labels are saying that there is a decline and the group that monitors record sales is showing a decline in the entire genre. It would be nice if the decline did end the whole "rap" thing.

I hadn't heard this before. I really doubt it's the end of rap. It'll probably just take some new artists and releases to revive sales.

It seems like rap is more popular than ever. If there is a decline in rap sales it may be due to bad press.

The reason the record sales are on the decline is because of the quality of the music. People are tired of the same old stuff from these "musicians".

I don't think rap will ever be "over", but I hope rock groups make a come back! I miss good college rock and garage bands from the 90's. I am glad that there seem to be more of these on the rise these days and less rap out there. All rap has started to sound the same. Of course you have your classic artists like Jay Z, Ludacris, Snoop, Dre, Tupac, Biggie, Grandmaster Flash, and a few others that are great, but it seems like the new artists have no creativity. They all sound the same, not like their predeccesors that had unique sounds and visions.
