Yes, they can be friends, even cats and dogs that have never met before. My Beagle loves to visit my sisters house, she has a Tonkinese cat that loves everyone and when my dog comes over they play all day long, no hissing or growling just wrestling all day, they love it.

I have had both dogs and cats at the same time. Some of the cats would play with the dogs, some would ignore the dogs, and one would chase the dogs! I think it depends upon the personalities of the particular cat and dog if they will get along.

I think lots of people keep dogs and cats together aspets. It may depend on how they are introduced to each other in the family. I have never kept both at the same time but I like dogs and cats, I have 2 dogs at the moment.

Well, my husband always tell me that dogs and cat arent always enemies. The more they get used to be around each other at home, the more they get relaxed withe ach other and be friends. Its only the first time that it may seem its always the dog and cat chase thing. But eventually, tehy will be friends.

Absolutely. I currently have 4 cats and 1 dog and they all get along great. Sometimes one of the cats will even curl up and sleep with the dog. The dog also likes to drag her toys along the ground, with the cats chasing the toy and pouncing trying to catch it. They can do that for hours on end. Before these pets we had two cats and a dog who got along great. One of the cats would curl up with the dog pretty regularly. As soon as one of them were sick the other would go up to it and nudge it and just sit near and watch. The other cat wasn't so happy about our dog, but the nextdoor neighbours dog didn't bother it in the slightest. I know quite a few people who have both cats and dogs and am not aware of any problems any of them have had.

They definitely can be. My MIL owns a dog and 14 cats and nearly all the cats adore the dog and give him hugs. One of the cats is especially fond of him and he's very fond of her too, it's so sweet. I think a lot of dogs and cats living in the same household get used to each other and become quite friendly with each other.

Yes, they can. I had a part collie, part german shepherd that was full grown. Well, this friends of my husbands called him and told him he had a small baby kitten and did he want it. My husband said no. He didn't like cats. But when his friend said he was going to throw it out in the middle of the lake tied up in a bag. My husband told him not to do that to go ahead and bring it over. Now we lived in North Dakota and it was in the middle of winter. He told his friend to put it in the garage when he got there. The garage had no heat. Well, it wasn't very long before my husband told me to bring that d--- cat inside. It was too cold for the thing. I brought the cat in and my dog sniffed all over it and then started to lick it. Let me tell you something that dog of mine took over the care of the kitten. He protected it and they slept together. The kitten curled up right against my dogs stomach. So yes, they can be friendly.

We brought a stray cat into the house the summer we moved here. Journey was an amazing cat, my dogs loved him and he loved them. I was really worried at first but everything worked out just fine ! Unfortunately he passed away a year and half ago.

before I reply- that wasn't much of a post, you probably won't get paid for it. Either way, I'll bite. I have two cats and four dogs, and they love to play witch eachother. They sniff eachother, watch eachother, and bat at eachother with thier paws. I know they are friends :)

They sure can be!! I've seen a case where the dog and the cat play together. Only thing is the pup is all of 3months old and kitten likewise.

Of course. I have always kept them together. Sometimes it's rough going at first but they usually work it out among themselves very quickly and I've never had an animal hurt.

Dogs and Cats can surely be friendly to each other. All the talk about dogs hating cats are just talk.
