I live near school and everytime I go home after work I see children fight or do some not good things. I am very unhappy about the conditions of the schools now. I will have children someday and I want we, people to do something about schools being safer places.

Children model their behavior based on what they see the adult world doing all around them. The best we can do is correct improper behaviour when we see it and be good role models. Sometimes we walk bye and think that the teachers or thier parents will stop the fight but that is not always the case.

its unbelievable that the school violence was happened in many asian countries or all countries around world. i did involved in the violence when i was a kid and studied in my junior high school.at that time,i could saw many toughs who staying at our school gate outside and stoped us after lessons to extort our money,we would be attacked if we had rejected to give them money.. but its ok now,i dont even know why the toughs were all disappeared now.. whats more,i just read a news from paper before,it said that the goverment of South Korea has agreed that deploying bodyguard for the students who have a need to protect them avoid school voilence..

Same problem here... I guess we should keep our children from watching all the violence on tv and give them a better education... But this must be made for all children...It's pointless teaching my kid not to fight if he goes to school and gets punched in the face... It's quite a problem...

School violence is a hard one to analyze and find solutions to. With all of the glamourization of gangs, the portayal in hollywood and the cinema of leaders of violence being seen as some sort of heroes can make it hard to stop some from seeking that kind of excitement. I believe in tough love, and I don't know if they still have this program in place, but when I was a teenager, they had programs across america called scared straight. Troubled kids were taken to prisons and underwent stages of what it means to be in prison for the remainder of your life. They were confronted by hardcore criminals, who did not mince words, the shot straight from the hip. I know it helped alot at my school. But now, it just seems many think they can gain respect with violence and I am sure peer pressure adds to it. Parental involvement is absolutely a must. I volunteered at every school my kids went to. On days I was able to schedule work around it, I'd be at the school. O made sure to go to all of the meetings and discussions on what needed to be done. The parents and teachers joined forces and set programs in place to quell violence. There was a no tolerance rule in place. Violence was not tolerated at all, but , when this rule was broken, the children/students were not able to stay home on suspension. They had to go to other programs. Many of these programs included vocational training. It is really sad when you realize your child is not safe in their own school.

All teacher first learn rules of M.K.GANDHI, then teach about M.K.GANDHI's Principles.
