How old were you as a kid when you had your first alcoholic drink?

I'm not asking to see who's 'the coolest" or anything like that. I'm curious as a mother of 3 teens. I know I drank at an early stage, simply because at 14 I was being mistaken as a 20 something. I used to actually buy booze for the seniors in my school and make $20 a bottle off them! LOL I am curious because I know my kids sneak alcohol once in a while at parties and such but of course as a parent its a LOT different. I get concerned about so many things that any parent would... safety being the biggest concern but also that they're so young, yet I recall I was about the same age when I started to dabble. Oddly enough.. because I drank at such an early age... by the time I was 21 I could have cared less! How old were you when you had your first alcoholic drink and party?

I had my first drink when I was 17. I was a freshman in college and I had just started school. Me and a few people had gone into town to the local pub for pizza. The bartendar knew the guys we were with so he offerred me and my girlfriend a free drink. I didn't drink much my freshman year.. I usually only had two or three drinks when I went to a party. I started drinking a lot more after my sophomore year of college.. I was good.. I never threw parties in highschool or when I was home on college break. My mom would have killed me if I did.

I think I was 13... it was the summer or it was when I was in 8th grade. Hey it was there and my friends and I just tried it. Who knows why. But when I was 21 it was not that big of a deal either. I even went out with my mother for dinner that night... she knew what was going on. Partying was over for me at that point in my life.

By the time I was 16 all of my friends were drinking, or smoking and partying. However, as I have a mind of my own and not one to give in to peer pressure, I actually never drank a drop until after I was 21. Even now it is in moderation.

I am drinking when Im just only 13.. But I stopped it within one year. because my pocket money is not enough for drinking. and my father also catch me while Im drinking in my room at midnight. But After 1 yr I was continuing my drinking.. and now I feel that enough drinking is not good for me. I think your children are young and new things are always attract them..time is the solution that I think..

I never really "partied". But I had my first drink when I was like 16. My mom let me at home in very small amounts, that is all I wanted anyway. My first time I got drunk was actually down in San Antonio visiting my now husband. I was only 19 and drank all of his maragatias at Planet Hollywood. Thankfully we didn't get caught. lol

I tried some Apple Barrel Schnapps when I was fifteen. Just the shot-size bottles, one for me and one for my friend. We thought we were cool. Didn't make it a habit tho.

i think i was about 16 when i had my first drink. i was not into drinking as much when i was younger, i was more into the pot. Though i grew out both of them by the time a graduated high school, now i drink socially and even then it is not alot, i hate the way it makes me feel the next day.

My brother gave me a sip of Guiness Stout when I was around 15. I hated it, and has not touch it since.

i dont remember how young i was but i sure know i was pretty young.i started at a very young age and now i know my limit and i can go without drinking even if i want to.we all can drink and let our children do too as long as they know their limits and we know ours.when we exceed that that is where we start doing the damage both physically and mentally.that should be avoided.as long as things are under control and we are the master of them things will always remain safe.

I was about 14 or 15...too young.and now I see how dangerous it is for kids that young to drink. It can actually kill a kid, because their body weight is so low usually their heart cannot handle the acohol.I don't condon it now.Too dangerous.

I was 10 years old. I was allowed on glass of champagne for new years. Didn't like it much. The first time I drank with my parents not there was 16. Boy did I regret that the next morning. I had a massive hang over. To this day I don't drink much and I firmly believe this is because my mom let me drink on ocations.

I was 15 going on 16. Drank swamp juice. Mixed everything together not knowing any better. I was so sick that night. I'll never forget it. How stupid can one be??? LOL I certainly learned my lesson about drinking. But even after that we use to go to church dances on Friday nights and we'd get a mickie (sp?) and drink it down straight. To even think of doing that now that now I feel like I'm going to be sick. To this day I can't stand the smell of rum, rye or southern comfort.

I had my first drink at an age of 15 in one small get together party. I think that is usually an age when almost every teen take there first drink sometimes encouraged by their friends and in some case to just give a try.
