I am making an afghan and the instructions say "ssk" and the description of what this means says "slip, slip, knit these 2 stitches together - a decrease". Is this the same as "k2tog"?

I seems like it means the same as knit these two stitches together. I am puzzled as to why they say "slip, slip, knit these two stitches together" as surely when you slip them, they will be on the right hand needle. If you up to the decreasing then I would say 'knit them together'. Hope this helps.
