Do people still read books?

I wonder, do people still read books? As a kid and through the years I loved to read. It seemed that most of my friends also read, and not just for school purposes. The past couple of years I have noticed less and less people I associate with like to read. Do you still read books?

You sound like my husband. We always joke that if he had only enough money for food or a book he would always buy the book.

Sometimes I wonder that very same thing myself. I'm always hearing people talk about computers and tv. I got mad one time and said "do you ever pick up a book"? The person replied "huh"??? I couldn't believe it... I think that most people have replaced reading a BOOK because they think that reading on the computer makes up for it. I love to read, and so does my fiance. We both read every night for two hours before bed. And sometimes during the day we have a couple hours where we do nothing but read. We do watch tv, and we do use the computer, but they aren't important to us.

Nice to hear that you're both avid reafers. I've had some very similar conversations with people.

I love reading books, I have several bookshelves full of books and am always looking for more. With standards in literacy falling I believe reading books is essential in order ti keep the English language alive.

I agree. My house is just short of becoming a library. My husband and I both like to read and I'm glad to hear that there are others. Thank you.

I love reading. But TV has made many people too lazy to read, they need their entertainment to be numbing and hand fed to them.

That's a good point about being hand-fed. It's sad.
