Getting a dog while you are pregnant

I am pregnant right now and I really want to have a puppy. Well my boyfriend wants to get one and I want to know if that is a good idea. Is it okay to have a puppy when your pregnant? Or with an infant? Right now I am 22 weeks so it will be a while before my son is born but its good to be sure. I just want the opinion of others and see what you all think of the situation. I just have a big fear that the dog could have some kind of dandruff that is bad or something. I know I want a dog but I'm not sure if I should wait. Thoughts?

I think it's best to get a dog when the baby is younger (and the dog too) so that they can grow up together, and so that there is no reason for the d to be skittish of children. The only thing you would have to really worry about is the baby being allergic. As far as dog hair or dandruff, you could always get an air filter. It's amazing what a small and inexspensive one will do!

I also meant to tell you that my parents bought my first puppy when I was first born. He is still with us today (he is pretty old, but you would never be able to tell. He still acts like a puppy!) And I've never had a problem with him. I am the only one in the family that he has never tried to bite (in 16 years). He's also pretty protective of me, which makes me feel pretty safe.

Obviously, you have to make sure you get one that is good around infants, certain breeds are just not good for kids under a certain age.
