What Are The Affects Of Global Warming On Wildlife?

We have all been hearing a lot about global warming these days. Most of the conversations that I have heard have concentrated on the human aspect of global warming. I would like to present to you, for your opinion, the animal aspect of view. We share this earth with many other things such as birds, animals, fish, trees, and flowers to name just a few. How does global warming affect each of these things? I have been reading about how the birds have changed their migrating habits as a result of global warming. How are the animals coping with this change? They depend on their instincts to survive but what happens when the earth is changing around them, will their instincts still point them in the right direction? I was not aware of it but Evidently there have been many studies done on this. The results are alarming. Polar Bears today are thinner and less healthy than those of 20 years ago Many fish species are moving northward in search of cooler waters Marmots end their hibernations about three weeks earlier now as compared to just 30 years ago According to live science. Com the earth’s average temperature has risen by about 1 degree Fahrenheit over the past century. Scientists believe the green house gasses and carbon dioxide emissions from human activities are to blame. A handful of scientists dispute the data that shows that humans are to blame. Others say humans are not to blame. Terry Root, an environmental science and policy professor at Stanford University, says that as humans argue about thermometer readings, animals are providing evidence that should be figured in to scientific and political decisions. Animals are "just reacting to what's going on out there," Root says. "And if their behavior is very similar to what we expect with what's going on with global warming -- if they're shifting and they're moving, if they're changing their breeding time by 5 days in 10 years -- we can use that information to support what the thermometers are also showing." Climate change can occur naturally, but what worries many scientists the most -- and the reason why they don't think this is part of a natural cycle -- is the rapid rate at which the current changes are happening -- changes that are being reflected in the responses of wildlife. If you are interested in learning more about animals and global warming, you can read more here http://www.livescience.com/environment/050621_warming_changes.html I was amazed at the information that I read. I am not sure how I feel about this. I know the earth has been going through various changes since the beginning of time and this may just be a natural change. Please remember that we all have opinions and that just because we have different opinions, that is no reason to get rude. I just want to discuss it and no argue. What do you think about all this?

I honestly think animals stand a better chance at adapting to the Earth;s changes than humans. Humans are more set in their ways and are harder to teach new ways of living to than animals. Animals have always adapted to anything in their surroundings. They actually have a better perspective on these changes than we do. We have to study the changes, analyze the changes and then adjust and try to adapt. Whereas animals just adapt. Global warming is like the ice age in reverse. It is not pleasant for anyone or anything, but it is here and we will all need to change with the surroundings.

I agree with you 100%. The animals and birds are already adapting to the changes. I was amazed at how they are adapting.

It is amazing how animals are already changing their habits.

Is it really global warming or is it the natural changes of the earth?

There's only one problem with this question -- different scientific authorities have different responses with regard to global warming. There is no REAL evidence to date that can predict whether or not there is actually such a trend. Some scientists have even said, in the past, that we are headed for another ice age. And the computer software that this "global warming" theory is based on is extremely inaccurate and cannot be accepted as gospel truth.

Did you read the discussion or just the title? You may want to read the discussion

There are many species that cannot move and therefore perish. We have know of this for a long time and the money grubbers have squashed it looking for profits. We as a people have allowed it to happen. Without the diversity we are in danger ourselves. The balance I mention so often for ourselves is also something the earth needs. We have paid no attention to that either. Dialog is good however am not sure it will ever be more than that. We need to take actions to correct what we have done. Strength is in our numbers. Will be interesting to see what if anything others have to offer and discuss! Thanks for talking about this.
